When I received my first phone call from Michael Frost's Studio to come and shoot "Beloved Embrace" I had no idea what to expect.
Today I'm saying boy I've been enjoying myself. Because of these gigs, I've been having some great times, meeting some great people, and adding new facets to my life.
So, I'm a "Romance Cover Model", right?
Sorry, no. I don't do that.
What? I pose for a lot of book covers, with the majority of them being romantic novels.
True, but I'm not liking that label.
Can you blame me?
To the majority of people, a "Romance Cover Model" is something akin to a chippendales dancer with plucked eyebrows, and stretch jeans.
And there are those "reputable" organizations and individuals who would continue to promote this tired image to further their own ends.
Can you blame me for not wanting to be a part of that? As successful as this business is, you mean to tell me we can't do any better than that?
Or so I thought.
Recently at a photo shoot, I had the pleasure to meet with some of the editors and staff of a new romantic publication: Arabella Magazine. A week later I came upon a stack of their preview copies on a table in one of the studios. Upon handling I was immediately impressed by a handsome, squared binding. Perusing the articles I found great content and direction. No cheesy-ness, no "hunk-a-somethings" Finally something to reflect the talents of the great authors, artists and photographers who have built this industry.
A breath of fresh air.
I won't give too much away, because you really should go and get a copy and appreciate it for yourself.
So, Mr. Stefan, you're a "Romance Cover Model"? No, I just pose for great artists and photographers. And I also think that Arabella Magazine will kick ass.
